LOCAL COMMUNITY PROJECTS SHORTLISTED FOR NSW GOVERNMENT FUNDING

Member for Lismore Thomas George has congratulated Lismore & Tweed Councils for progressing through the Expressions of Interest (EOI) stage for the NSW Government’s ClubGRANTS Category 3 funding program for art and culture.

A total of $2.5 million is being offered state-wide by the program to provide grants of between $100,000 and $300,000 for projects to develop new and upgraded arts and cultural infrastructure for local communities.

Lismore Council has been invited to submit a formal application for the Lismore Quadrangle & Regional Gallery and Tweed Council for an internal upgrade of the Murwillumbah auditoria.

Mr George said he is very pleased both Councils are shortlisted.

“A total of 256 expressions of interest were submitted for funding state-wide and these projects two of just 24 applications invited to progress to the final application stage, which is a wonderful achievement on behalf of our local community,” Mr George said.

“The ClubGRANTS Category 3 Fund was established by the Government to deliver funding to communities across NSW to support healthy lifestyles through increased participation in sport, recreation, arts and cultural activities.

Over four years from 2015-16, the NSW Government is providing $50 million in ClubGRANTS Category 3 project funding statewide. This includes $2.5 million a year for arts and cultural infrastructure, $8 million a year for sports and recreation infrastructure, and $2 million a year for emergency services infrastructure.

Full applications will close on 10 June 2016 and will then be assessed and the NSW Government will announce successful projects later in the year.
