NEW FIRE FIGHTING TRUCKS WELCOMED BY NORTHERN RIVERS FIREFIGHTERS
The Nimbin Brigade is celebrating the official handover of a new leading edge fire truck that will help fight fires more efficiently.
The Hon. David Elliott MP, Minister for Emergency Services and Thomas George MP, Member for Lismore, congratulated the volunteers on the newest addition to their brigade, noting the fire truck would advance local firefighting efforts.
“The NSW RFS and the NSW Government is committed to providing volunteer firefighters with the equipment they need to carry out the important work they do in protecting their local communities from fire,” Mr Elliott said.
“These new vehicles are replacing older style models and will allow firefighters to continue providing a high-level of emergency service to residents in the Northern Rivers area.
“This valuable new fire truck is worth $192,500, but to our volunteers and the communities they protect, it is a priceless asset.”
“This fire truck will put the Nimbin Brigade in a strong position to fight bush and grass fires, as well as provide the unique equipment required to put out car and house fires,” Mr Elliott said.
Mr Elliott also handed over a new command vehicle for the Northern Rivers Zone.
“It is a fantastic day for members of the Nimbin Brigade and Northern Rivers Zone to be receiving these impressive new firefighting resources,” Mr George said.
“We thank the communities in the Northern Rivers area for the exceptional level of fire protection you provide to us.”
