NSW Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall and Member for Lismore Thomas George today announced Tenterfield Oracles of the Bush event will receive $20,000 through the NSW Government’s 2017 Flagship Event Fund.

Mr Marshall said the Fund provides grants to support marketing activities that drive overnight visitation to Regional NSW.

“The Flagship Event Fund is a terrific NSW Government initiative and part of our renewed commitment to boost rural and regional economies through tourism and major events,” Mr Marshall said.

“Events play a fundamental role in attracting new and returning visitors to our regional towns, bringing with them additional business to restaurants and cafes, local tourism operators, attractions and accommodation providers.

“The Flagship Event Fund represents Regional NSW at its best, with local communities coming together to stage events that showcase the unique character, culture and attributes of their region.”

Member for Lismore Thomas George said he was delighted that Tenterfield Oracles of the Bush will receive funding under the 2017 Flagship Event Fund.

“Oracles of the Bush is a four day cultural event celebrating the live performance of Australian Bus poetry, music and art.

“This showcase is set against the beautiful colours of Tenterfield in autumn, which draws many return visitors to the area.

The 2017 Flagship Event Fund is managed by the State’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.
