Northern Rivers Echo
During the past couple of weeks Iíve been honoured to host a number of visits from Government Ministers and the Governor of NSW. All have come to offer their support to the community and inspect damage.
Minister for Emergency Services Troy Grant announced two new rescue rafts for the Lismore City SES Unit, Minister for Roads Melinda Pavey inspected some of the road damage in the area, Minister for Early Childhood Education & Aboriginal Affairs Sarah Mitchell met with Jarjum Preschool and visited Our Lady Help of Christians School to announce $30,000 towards Before/After School Hours Care. His Excellency General The Hon David Hurley & Mrs Hurley came again, this time to meet with Interrelate, Northern Rivers Conservatorium and Lismore Branch of the CWA.
Donít forget natural disaster assistance grants and loans are available for small businesses and primary producers. Call the Rural Assistance Authority on 1800 678 593 or visit raa.nsw.gov.au.
A comprehensive review of the Travelling Stock Reserve (TSR) network across NSW is taking place. It will examine the current and future needs of the TSR network for livestock producers and include a thorough assessment of other important land uses such as cultural, Aboriginal, social and environmental purposes.
This review will ensure the TSR network remains connected, viable and well maintained, it is not about a sell off of TSR's, itís about getting solid evidence about what TSR's are used and valued for today.
We want a comprehensive map of the TSR network in NSW ó where they are, what they are now used for, who uses them and how often.
