Future-focused training is a step closer for the region with the NSW Assistant Minister for Skills Adam Marshall today announcing the start of construction of an industry-leading TAFE NSW Connected Learning Centre in Tenterfield.

Member for Lismore Thomas George welcomed the news and said the works are delivering on the NSW Government’s plan, unveiled late last year, to significantly enhance TAFE NSW’s presence across rural and regional NSW and replace outdated facilities with new digitally enabled Connected Learning Centres (CLCs).

“I am pleased to see plans to modernise and update the Tenterfield campus come to fruition. The new CLC will be a state-of-the-art learning facility allowing our TAFE to deliver the education and training methods we need to equip our young people for the future,” Mr George said.

“The centre will provide our students with access to a greater range of learning and course options through digitally enabled facilities capable of reflecting real-world work and social environments.

“It will also remain a cornerstone of our community, with an open plan to host community-run events.”

Mr Marshall said work was also starting on CLCs in the towns of Coonabarabran, Glen Innes and Quirindi as part of a broader plan to modernise TAFE and increase its presence across rural and regional NSW as a market-leading vocational education and training provider.

“When completed, these four new CLCs will be multi-purpose and digital learning facilities where students will receive more personalised learning experiences, better access to teachers both on and off-site, simulated work environments and directly relevant training for skills shortages of the future.

“The NSW Government has always said that where there is a TAFE today there will be a TAFE in the future and I reaffirm that commitment today as we focus on communities where TAFE doesn’t have a presence or where outdated facilities are not meeting future needs.”

Construction of the four CLCs will start immediately, weather permitting, and comes in addition to the nine new TAFE NSW SkillsPoints announced earlier this year.
