Future-focused training is firmly on the horizon for TAFE NSW in Murwillumbah with a new state of the art Connected Learning Centre (CLC) to significantly boost training opportunities through industry leading facilities.

Member for Lismore Thomas George said the NSW Government is committed to ensuring TAFE NSW continues its presence in Murwillumbah and will be increasing its course offerings in the region.

“The NSW Government has always said that where there is a TAFE today there will be a TAFE in the future, and I reaffirm that commitment with this investment in Murwillumbah,” Mr George said.

“When completed, the Murwillumbah CLC is expected to far outperform the existing TAFE NSW facilities through improved access, more training choices and improved capability for teachers to deliver through modern facilities.

“We are anticipating significant enrolment growth through the new Murwillumbah CLC due to the facility’s ability to offer more courses to more students which will see more people in the region getting the skills they need to get a job.

“Initial analysis by TAFE NSW indicates in its first year of operations the Murwillumbah CLC will not only maintain but increase existing enrolments by nine per cent compared to the existing campus.

“The NSW Government is getting on with the job of delivering for communities where TAFE NSW does not have a presence or where outdated facilities are not meeting future needs like in Murwillumbah,” Mr George said.

The Murwillumbah CLC was reaffirmed in the recent State Budget with TAFE NSW currently undertaking preparatory works and consultation with the community regarding delivery in the region. TAFE NSW will maintain its current program of education and training services on its existing campus at Murwillumbah in the ensuing period.

Four CLCs are also currently under construction in Tenterfield, Quirindi, Glen Innes and Coonabarabran. To take a CLC digital tour, visit https://www.tafensw.edu.au/about-tafensw/one-tafe-nsw and click on ‘Take a virtual tour’.
