NORTHERN RIVERS BUSINESSES TO BENEFIT FROM SOUTHERN CROSS UNIVERSITY ENTERPRISE LAB

Business innovation and growth in the Northern Rivers will be boosted by the launch of a new Enterprise Lab at Southern Cross University.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the Southern Cross Enterprise Lab has been developed with support from the Boosting Business Innovation Program.

“The NSW Government is providing $12 million to the state's 11 universities and the CSIRO to help them work with their local business communities and boost regional innovation,” Ms Berejiklian said.

“The launch today of the Southern Cross Enterprise Lab is an historic occasion and signals a positive step forward for many regional businesses in the Northern Rivers.

“This launch was delayed due to recent floods, but the Lab has already been helping the community by hosting business recovery meetings and providing working space and internet for local organisations and enterprises.”

Deputy Premier and Minister for Small Business John Barilaro said SMEs will be able to freely access the Enterprise Lab and its facilities.

“The Lab will offer local businesses facilities including high-speed fibre optic broadband, dedicated co-working spaces, and also access to the wider knowledge and resources of the University.”

Member for Lismore Thomas George welcomed the NSW Government’s investment in the region’s future prosperity through the Boosting Business Innovation program.

“SMEs will be able to develop their business ideas in a collaborative way with some of the best and brightest minds from the university and key regional agencies.”
