Seniors in Lismore will celebrate and build friendships at local NSW Seniors Festival events in April this year, thanks to NSW Government grants for local organisations to hold free and low cost events.

Thomas George MP, Member for Lismore said $200,000 in total had been delivered to organisations across the state to celebrate the festival’s 60th Diamond Anniversary year.

“The NSW Seniors Festival provides the perfect opportunity for older people to have some fun and get involved in our community. Local organisations are running some wonderful events in Lismore in line with this year’s festival theme, ‘Let’s do more together’,” Mr George said.

“I urge all seniors to take advantage of these events and get active this April.”

The organisations that have received funding are:

North Coast National A&I Society for its Seniors Expo and ACON for a movie matinee.

The festival grants are a way for the NSW Government to thank older people for their significant contribution to communities across the state.

The NSW Seniors Festival will run from Wednesday 4 to Sunday 15 April 2018. Further information on events and activities across NSW will be available at www.seniorsfestival.nsw.gov.au in the coming weeks.
