Member for Lismore Thomas George and Minister for Social Housing Pru Goward launched the program at a social housing maintenance pop-up in Goonellabah today. The program is a community-led initiative to facilitate projects which create a more connected environment with improved opportunities for education, training and employment.

“This program will build strong and proud communities which help break the cycle of disadvantage,” Mr George said.

“We know that members of the community are stronger when they work together.”

The NSW Government will invest $1.2 million in the Goonellabah program which enables members of the local community to work with government, not-for-profit organisations and local businesses to develop a plan to create positive change. Projects planned for Goonellabah include:

“These projects are tailored to the unique needs of the Goonellabah community,” Ms Goward said.

“We look forward to watching the Goonellabah community thrive as these projects progress.”
