MURWILLUMBAH RECEIVES $6950 FOR LOCAL SPORT
Murwillumbah will receive $6950 in funding for local sports clubs and community initiatives.
Thomas George MP said sport is the lifeblood of Murwillumbah and investment in local sport is an important focus for the community.
“Murwillumbah Swimming Club is excited to receive $5000 to help cover entry fees and subside its membership.
This funding will create new training opportunities for young, up and coming swimmers in the district.”
“Tweed Valley Triathletes Inc. will have a similar opportunity with $1,950 made available to purchase triathlon suits and subsidise athletes travel,” Mr George said.
These projects were among 831 that have received funding as part of the NSW Government’s Local Sport Grant Program.
“The program provides grants of up to $20,000 towards projects to assist regions with rallying the community together and ensuring ongoing involvement in sport,” Mr George said.
“The NSW Government is committed to supporting grassroots sport and improving participation rates across the state.
“We know that sport has many proven health, social and economic outcomes and I encourage eligible clubs to apply for the next round of funding which will open later in the year.”
“I would also like to remind parents about the $100 Active Kids rebate, available for all school aged children to assist with the cost of sports registration, membership expenses and fees for physical activities,” Mr George concluded.
