TENTERFIELD RECEIVES VITAL SUPPORT FOR LOCAL SPORT
Tenterfield will receive $4,480 in funding for local sports clubs and community initiatives.
Member for Lismore Thomas George said that sport was the lifeblood of Tenterfield and investment in local sport was an important focus for the community.
“Tenterfield District Tennis Association is excited it has received $3,090 to purchase a new ball machine. This equipment will create new training opportunities for young, up and coming players in the district.”
“Tenterfield Traditional Archers will have a similar opportunity with $1,390 made available to secure new archery equipment,” Mr George said.
These projects were among 831 that have received funding as part of the NSW Government’s Local Sport Grant Program.
“The program provides grants of up to $20,000 towards projects to assist regions with rallying the community together and ensuring ongoing involvement in sport,” Mr George said.
“The NSW government is committed to supporting grassroots sport and improving participation rates across the state.
“We know that sport has many proven health, social and economic outcomes and I encourage eligible clubs to apply for the next round of funding.
“Projects that are eligible include upgrades to local amenities or improving access to facilities, training programs and community events.”
Program applications open in late 2018.
