CROQUET CLUB RECEIVES $3,540 FOR EQUIPMENT
Nationals Member for Lismore Thomas George MP today presented Lismore Croquet Club with $3,540 from the Local Sports Grant Program.
“Lismore continues to show itself as the regional sports hub, with the many and varied sports on offer in the city,” Mr George said.
The program provides grants of up to $20,000 towards projects to assist regions with rallying the community together and ensuring ongoing involvement in sport.
“The NSW Government is committed to supporting grassroots sport and improving participation rates across the state.
“We know sport has many proven health, social and economic outcomes and I encourage eligible clubs to apply for the next round of funding.
“Projects that are eligible include upgrades to local amenities or improving access to facilities, training programs and community events,” Mr George said.
"I thank Thomas George and the Department of Sport and Recreation for the successful outcome to the club's grant application.
“The funds will be put towards the purchase of new equipment such as hoops, balls and mallets," Barry Waters, Club President said.
"This new equipment is much appreciated and will be used in tournaments, in particular the Club's upcoming tournament in November. Entries for the tournament have been received from players as far south as Young and north to Tweed Heads.
“Our Club will be ‘on show’ during the competition and the new equipment will, I'm sure, be well regarded."
Program applications open in late 2018.
