LISMORE ELECTORATE BUDGET WINS
Nationals Member for Lismore Thomas George MP is pleased with today’s record NSW Budget.
The NSW Government today unveiled a strong 2018-19 Budget position that will continue record levels of investment in infrastructure like hospitals and schools, laying the foundations for communities across the Lismore electorate to grow and flourish.
The NSW Budget 2018-19 shows New South Wales is expected to record a surplus of $3.9 billion.
“This Budget continues our commitment to Lismore Base Hospital Stages 3c with $45.916 million announced for this financial year to continue the construction of the North Tower which includes the ICU,” Mr George said.
“The Tenterfield Hospital alongside several others across the state will be upgraded through the Rural Health Infrastructure Program while Urbenville MPS has received $430,000 to renovate its emergency department.
“Education is a priority this budget and at Murwillumbah $3.4 million has been allocated to construct a new TAFE Connected Learning Centre, while Murwillumbah High School and Murwillumbah East Public School will both see major upgrades to help cope with increasing student numbers.
“Not only will there be continued investment in infrastructure, but the NSW Government has committed to funding the jobs to man those facilities,” Mr George said.
“The NSW government has announced it will fund 1400 new nurse, doctor and health care positions across the state while 750 new paramedics will also be hired.
“I will continue to work with the government to ensure the electorate of Lismore gets its fair share of these positions,” Mr George said.
