TENTERFIELD HOSPITAL TO BE UPGRADED AFTER RECORD HEALTH SPEND
Member for Lismore Thomas George has welcomed the announcement today funding has been allocated to upgrade Tenterfield Hospital in the record NSW Budget.
Mr George said for many months members of the community have been raising concerns about the state of the aging service and its ability to support the community into the future.
“The Tenterfield Hospital provides an essential service to isolated communities in the Lismore electorate and it is critical that it has the most modern and up-to-date facilities to meet resident’s needs,” Mr George said.
“This investment through the Rural Health Infrastructure Program will help improve patient care by upgrading and refurbishing this important facility.
“The physical environment in which care is provided has a major impact on the experience of patients and their families, and also on the experience of staff working in the healthy system.
“By investing in that environment, we are continuing to build on the health services we provide to our local community.
“Thanks to the leadership of Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Deputy Premier John Barilaro today’s budget has been one which continues the great work already being done to create new jobs and maintain infrastructure in rural and regional areas.
“We have already seen the Premier announce a further $1billion dollars will be added to the state’s health budget 2018-19 to fund 1400 new nurse, doctor and health worker positions.
“With a third of the NSW Budget now allocated to health, the NSW Government is committing to deliver the best health services in the country,” Mr George said.
