REFURBISHED EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT AT URBENVILLE MPS OFFICIALLY OPEN

Member for Lismore Thomas George has officially opened the newly refurbished Urbenville Multi-Purpose Service Emergency Department at a community open day.

The refurbishments were part of $430,000 funding from the NSW Government aimed at improving the facilities for both patients and staff at the important service.

“It was great to see many locals turn out to Saturday’s open-day, looking to see what changes had been made to the emergency department as well as finding out what facilities are available to them locally and across our health district,” Mr George said.

“Some of the works which have taken place in the ED include refurbishment of the waiting and triage areas as well as the addition of a new treatment bay and examination area.”

“Urbenville MPS plays a vital role in the local community and I’m excited to be able to open the doors and invite residents to see the variety of services on offer, tour the new Emergency Department and meet some of our fabulous staff,” Mr George said.

Over recent months concerns have been raised by residents about the lack of community nurse services in the Woodenbong and Urbenville areas. Mr George used the open-day to reconfirm to the community nurse services are in place and available to those who need it.

“I have spoken to Wayne Jones, Chief Executive of the Northern NSW Local Health District who has told me the community nurse is available and will even travel to Woodenbong if that is where they are needed,” Mr George said.

“It doesn’t matter if you live in a rural or remote area, everyone deserves to have access to the best health care services and that is what is being delivered through the MPS refurbishment.”
