$5,000 GRANT RENOVATES MURWILLUMBAH CROQUET CLUB FACILITIES
Member for Lismore Thomas George, Nationals candidate for Lismore Austin Curtin and NSW Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres today announced $5,000 to renovate the toilets and facilities at Murwillumbah Croquet Club.
Mr George said toilet facilities at the clubhouse, located at Knox Park, were severely damaged during the March 2017 flood event.
“The 2017 flood event had a devastating impact on the Murwillumbah community, with many residents, businesses and clubs struggling to cover the cost of clean-up and recovery.
“I thank Minister Ayres, for providing this funding which will renovate both the male and female toilets at Murwillumbah Croquet Club, bringing the facilities in line health and safety standards,” Mr George said.
Mr Curtin said it’s important the NSW Government continue to support ongoing flood recovery and mitigation projects in the Tweed.
“It is fantastic to see the NSW Government, nearly two years on from the flood event, continuing to show its commitment to supporting those organisations which were impacted by the disaster.
“Whether it’s a small grant of $5,000 for the Murwillumbah Croquet Club or $3 million for the purchase of flood free land to relocate businesses at South Murwillumbah, every dollar counts in helping this great part of the Northern Rivers get back on its feet,” Mr Curtin said.
Minister Ayres said both Mr George and Mr Curtin had advocated strongly on behalf of Murwillumbah Croquet Club.
“Through the hard work of Mr George, the NSW Government has been able to provide this funding to get Murwillumbah’s croquet players back out on the court and participating in sport.
“It’s a priority of the Liberals and Nationals in Government, to ensure sports facilities across the state are of the highest standard, as a way of encouraging people to be active and improve their health outcomes,” Minister Ayres said.
