Families in Lismore will have access to more flexible before and after school care, following the announcement that Our Lady Help of Christians Primary School has been successful under the NSW Government’s $20 million Before and After School Care Fund.

Our Lady Help of Christians Primary School received $30,000 to deliver important infrastructure work to expand its out of school hours care program by an extra 150 student places.

Minister for Early Childhood Education and Assistant Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell joined Member for Lismore Thomas George and NSW Nationals candidate Austin Curtin to visit the school today, and said the funding will provide more opportunity and flexibility for parents in Lismore.

“As a working mum of two young daughters, I know how stressful it can be to meet the demands of work and a bustling family life, so investments like these are crucial in ensuring we’re supporting local families as much as possible.”

Our Lady of Help received its first $30,000 Before and After School Care grant in 2017.

“Our Lady of Help continues to apply for these grants shows how committed they are to ensuring their families have as much flexibility as possible when it to the care of their children,” Ms Mitchell said.

Candidate for Lismore Austin Curtin said that investment in Before and After School Care was crucial for families right across the electorate.

“Before and After School Care Funding has created hundreds of additional places for students in Lismore who require care,” Mr Curtin said.

“This is just more proof that it is only the NSW Liberals & Nationals who can deliver for the families of Lismore, and I will continue to fight to ensure no child misses out in our region.”

Since the Before and After School Care Fund was introduced, the NSW Liberals & Nationals have invested almost $170,000 in Lismore. Schools include:
