Member for Lismore, Thomas George and Nationals candidate for Lismore, Austin Curtin today announced Tenterfield’s Peter Allen Festival has again secured $20,000 from the NSW Government’s Incubator Event Fund.

The inaugural event held from Friday 7 to Sunday 9 September 2018 saw more than one thousand people visit and stay in the town.

Mr George welcomed the announcement the NSW Government would be supporting the event again in 2019.

“I personally attended the first Peter Allen Festival and was blown to Rio with the effort and innovative ideas the committee put into making the event a success.

“Whether it’s food and wine events or music and sporting festivals, events play an important role in driving additional overnight visitation to Tenterfield.

“The Peter Allen Festival is a fantastic way to fuel our local economy by putting more heads on hotel beds, diners in our restaurants and shoppers in our boutiques, and I am delighted this event will benefit from the NSW Government’s funding support,” Mr George said.

Mr Curtin said he is committed to supporting community driven events which bring new people to town.

“The Peter Allen Festival is a fantastic example of the community taking hold of its own destiny and coming up with new and exciting ways to stimulate the economy.

“From Peter Allen Boulevard to the Tenterfield to Rio Cabaret show, the entire event showcased not only Tenterfield’s unique history, but the very best in local hospitality, retail and arts.

“The Liberals and Nationals in Government are growing the regional tourism pie across NSW, making sure everybody gets a slice. This funding boost will have a positive impact on local hotels, restaurants, shops and attractions – helping to stimulate local economies and create more jobs,” Mr Curtin said.

The Incubator Event Fund offers one-off grants of up to $20,000 to those staging an event for the first or second time to fund elements such as staging, venue hire, research, marketing and publicity activities.
