Information Night for Farmers

NSW Farmers' Association is conducting educational seminars on the GST in rural areas to assist the farming community to become aware and 'GST-ready'. People are required to register on 1800 555 240 as places are limited.

White Paper on Water Management

This paper contains a number of far reaching proposals that need to be properly understood and considered by water users prior to any legislative changes. I urge all interested parties to study the contents and make a submission by March 31. Copies are available from my office.

Country Halls

I have received a number of enquiries regarding billing structures and charges of NorthPower accounts for rural halls. I would be pleased to assist in this matter and suggest contacting my office for further details.


I am eagerly waiting on the release of the Multi Purpose Service announcements following the Sinclair report which I believe will be favourable for the Kyogle district. Recently, I organised a visit by the Policy Adviser to the Minister for Agriculture to speak to local farmers about tick and BJD issues.

Bill of Rights Inquiry

By confirming the authority of Parliament over questions of basic rights, a statutory Bill of Rights actually reduces the power of the courts. Submissions close 31 March 2000.

Crimes Legislation Amendment (Police & Public Safety) Act 1998

A review of this Act is currently being conducted to determine whether the policy objectives remain valid and whether amendments made by the Act remain appropriate for securing those objectives. Closing date 31 March 2000.
