Sinclair Report

The Kyogle News March 00

Sinclair Report

I am pleased with the anticipated outcome of the Sinclair Report that recommended a Multi Purpose Service unit for Kyogle. This has been as a result of the tireless crusade by the local community. Due credit was given recently in an article stating "Kyogle is not only surviving, but is thriving as a caring, responsible community", according to a research team from Southern Cross University. Supervisor of the team, Dr Hase comments further, ".there are some incredibly resourceful people both in the public and private sector in Kyogle and their successes need to be acknowledged and celebrated". A well deserved pat on the back for Kyogle residents.

Ross Cameron's Comments Refuted

Comments by Federal Member for Parramatta, have been met with much rural community retaliation. In response, I sent Mr Cameron a letter, expressing many of the opinions conveyed to me by my constituents, inviting him to our area to see first hand the needs and positives of regional NSW.

Seniors Week

I have had the pleasure of attending many local functions as part of Seniors Week. To highlight the services available for seniors in the Lismore electorate I have made available a newly revised local Seniors Card Directory. Many people who previously left details with Bill Rixon will automatically receive an update. Anyone interested in being added to this list should contact my office.

A one-day suicide prevention program is being run in Lismore on Friday 12 May, from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm. LifeForce is committed to working towards significantly reducing Australia's high suicide rate by implementing strategies that focus on prevention and intervention. Interested people can contact my office for further details.
