State Budget

Once again major projects in the electorate of Lismore did not get a mention in their own right in the Carr Government's Budget which was announced on Tuesday 29 May. The Treasurer indicated in his speech that the Government has been listening to the regional voters, however from what I seen it hasn't heard the cries from my electorate. I will certainly be interested to view the more detailed documents once they are available in the hope of receiving ongoing funding for both major and minor projects. If not, this is yet another display of the Government's lack of commitment to rural New South Wales and its constituency.

2001 National CommunityLink Volunteer Awards

Nominations have opened and the main objective of the Awards is to promote, encourage and develop community service and volunteers. Nomination forms area available upon request to my office or online at www.national.com.au/Community/ and I encourage all local volunteer groups to nominate. Closing date 27 July 2001.

Capital Assistance Program

The 2001/2002 funding round has opened and I encourage local sporting organisations to make application for these grants. The program provides assistance with the development of local community sport and recreational facilities throughout NSW. Application forms and guidance notes are available upon request.
